Project Background
Sosiani Flowers is a leading flower grower based in Eldoret, Kenya, exporting premium astromerias to more than 42 countries worldwide. Sustainability is at the core of its operations. The company has transitioned from synthetic fertilizers to composting, implemented rainwater harvesting for year-round irrigation, and continuously invests in environmentally responsible practices to improve crop quality and longevity.
As operations expanded, Sosiani Flowers faced growing energy demands. From cold storage to irrigation pumps, the facility requires a stable power supply of approximately 60–70 kW during daily operations. However, frequent grid outages and rising electricity costs posed a serious risk to business continuity, especially for temperature-sensitive cold rooms. The existing grid-tied solar system could not provide backup power during grid failures, making a more reliable and flexible energy solution essential.
Project Benefits
To address these challenges, SAJ’s CHS2 All-in-One C&I Energy Storage Solution was introduced, upgrading the site from a grid-tied system to a solar-plus-storage configuration.
With integrated battery storage, Sosiani Flowers is now able to operate smoothly even during grid outages, significantly reducing downtime and protecting critical agricultural processes. The system enables the site to move closer to off-grid operation while drastically lowering electricity bills—almost to zero.
In addition, the elekeeper intelligent energy management platform provides full visibility into energy consumption, battery performance, and system status. This real-time monitoring allows the owner to plan energy usage more effectively and make informed operational decisions, further improving efficiency and reliability.
